WHEN & WHERE: Saturday, August 4 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Natureworks Garden Center, 518 Forest Rd, Northford, CT

At the Create An Organic Connecticut Day gathering, guests can come for free to:

  • Chat about organic garden tricks with old timers (...like Nancy DuBrule-Clemente!)
  • Enjoy a free seasonally-appropriate veggie workshop & an organic garden tour
  • Share delicious snacks and drinks like herbal iced teas and a sampling of organic wines
  • Meet CT NOFA staff, board members, and like-minded organic gardeners, farmers, and landscapers

2:30 PM ~ FREE WORKSHOP: Second Season Organic Veggies

Early August is your chance to plant a SECOND round of vegetables for fall harvests. This is a HUGE opportunity as many plants thrive in the cooler temperatures of fall. Lettuce, spinach, kale, broccoli, cabbage, broccoli raab, carrots, radishes, and so much more can be planted now. Nancy will explain how it works, which plants to start from seed, which ones to plant from seedlings (yes we will have plenty), and how to plan and organize this wonderful SECOND SEASON.

3:30 PM ~ FREE TOUR & REFRESHMENTS: Enjoy snacks and a guided garden stroll at Naturework's organic demonstration gardens to see what is in bloom in August.

WHY:

Learn something cool; drink something cold; and eat something organic, when you come out to learn about CT NOFA! Stay for a short or long spell. All ages are welcome to explore and play at Natureworks Garden Center.

The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Connecticut is THE group in our state that is working hard to assure we all have access to safe, organic food and landscapes for generations to come.  CT NOFA was founded in 1982 and our host, Nancy DuBrule-Clemente, was on the CT NOFA board of directors for many years and board president in the 1990’s. It is SO IMPORTANT to support the vital work that is done by CT NOFA every day. Start or renew a CT NOFA membership at this event to help support organics!

Registration: No cost to attend but we’d appreciate knowing if you are stopping by. Send a quick RSVP to ctnofa@ctnofa.org or call us 203-308-2584,

FREE to attend this event and you don’t have to be a CT NOFA member - but Nancy sure hopes you WILL join if you’re not yet a supporter!

ABOUT CT NOFA: The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Connecticut's mission is to ensure the growth and viability of organic agriculture, organic food, and organic land care in Connecticut. We envision a healthy, organic Connecticut founded on ecologically, socially and economically just principles. In addition to our food-based initiatives, CT NOFA also runs the NOFA Organic Land Care program to train the next generation of organic landscapers, land managers, and conservationists.
